Insulation Pad Sizes & Thicknesses

Insulation pads come in a range of sizes and thicknesses. The use for theses differences depends on the project you are using them on, and the results you are wanting them to achieve. The core purpose of insulation is to keep heat within a room, and to reduce the sound output or reverberation. Below is a list of the key performances of insulation; 

  • Reduce heat loss
  • Reduce sound escaping
  • Reduce sound reverberation
  • Reduce the need for heating
  • Reduce the cost of heating a room

The best way to decide what insulation pad you need, would be to decide which of the above apply to you. If you are needing only heat retaining properties, then our normal Thermal Insulation Pad range is for you. If it is both thermal and acoustic ratings you require, then our Acoustic Insulation Pad range is ideal for you.

Insulation Pad Size

 

The size of the insulation pad is dictated by the size of your suspended ceiling tiles, i.e if you have a 600mm x 600mm ceiling tile then you would use our 600mm x 600mm insulation pads, or if your tiles are 1200mm x 600mm, you would use our 1200mm x 600mm insulation pads.

Insulation Pad Thickness

The thickness of the insulation pad you will need depends on the ratings/results you wish to receive. Different factors apply between our thermal, acoustic and flame retardant insulation pads, so we have table the points below:

Thermal Insulation Pads
  • R Value (Measures how well the insulation resists the conductive flow of heat.)
  • U Value (Measures the rate of heat transfer through the ceiling)
  • U value of insulation
Acoustic Insulation Pads
  • Noise Reduction Coefficient (The Noise Reduction Coefficient is a single number value ranging from 0.0-1.0 that describes the average sound absorption performance of a material.)
  • Sound Reverberation (How much sound is bounced and reflected within a room)
